Chile

Vet requirements, breed rules, airline realities and what happens at the border · updated 2026-02-16

Official Import Rules

Chile requires a current rabies vaccination and a government-endorsed veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel. A microchip is recommended but not strictly required. No import permit is needed for personal pet dogs. SAG (Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero) inspects animals on arrival at Santiago (SCL) airport. Chile is rabies-free in domestic animals since 1972, making it one of the safest destinations in the Americas.
