- Tanzania requires a current rabies vaccination (at least 30 days old, and no more than 3 years old).
- Dogs should also be vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus (DHLP).
- Puppies start the DHLP series at 5–7 weeks old, with repeat doses at 2 and 6 weeks later; the rabies shot is given with the third dose.
- A government-endorsed health certificate issued within 10 days of travel is required.
- Vaccination certificates must be attached to the import permit application from the Ministry of Livestock & Fisheries.
- A microchip is not officially mandatory but is recommended good practice.
