About this route
Eurotunnel LeShuttle is the fastest way to cross the English Channel with a dog: about 35 minutes platform to platform. You and your dog stay together in your vehicle the entire time. No kennels, no cargo handling, no separation. Dedicated pet exercise areas are available at both the Folkestone and Calais terminals. It is a rail tunnel rather than a ferry, but it is a critical sea-crossing alternative.
Dog travel details
Pet fee£22 per pet each way (2026)
Dog notesThis is often the best UK-Europe option for dogs. Large dogs, anxious dogs, restricted cargo breeds and snub-nosed dogs avoid aircraft holds and ferry kennels entirely. UK-bound dogs still need the tapeworm treatment recorded 24-120 hours before arrival unless travelling from an exempt country.
BookingBook the vehicle crossing online and add your dog at booking. There is no separate pet facility booking because your dog remains in the vehicle with you.
Pro tipFor nervous dogs, this is the gold standard: short crossing, owner present, no separation. Use the terminal exercise areas before check-in and after arrival, especially for large breeds.
RestrictionsVehicle passengers only. Foot passengers cannot bring pets. Dogs stay in the vehicle during the crossing and passengers cannot walk through the shuttle.
