Munich Airport Animal Station

Germany's second-largest international airport. While Frankfurt's Lufthansa Animal Lounge is the primary hub for cargo transits, Munich provides competent animal handling facilities in its cargo zone. Popular routing for pets traveling to/from southern Germany, Austria, and northern Italy.

Collection Point

Animal station is in the cargo area. EU-accompanied pets clear through customs normally. Non-EU arrivals and cargo pets processed at the cargo terminal.

Hours

Cargo: Mon–Fri 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Dog-Owner Tip

Frankfurt is generally preferred for cargo pet transits due to the superior Animal Lounge. Munich works well for accompanied pets on direct flights. EU Pet Passport holders experience quick clearance. Non-EU arrivals need full documentation.

Facility map

Map the animal facility, not just the passenger terminal.

The critical address is usually the cargo, animal reception, quarantine or border-inspection facility. Use this as a starting map search, then confirm the exact entrance with the airline, facility or receiving agent before travelling.

Before the flight

Send document scans early where the facility offers pre-checks, and confirm whether the airline treats your dog as cabin, checked baggage, AVIH or manifest cargo.

After landing

Wait for clearance updates. Cargo and animal reception facilities are often outside passenger terminals and may need a taxi, car or agent appointment.

What to carry

Bring photo ID, original veterinary documents, microchip details, airway bill numbers, agent contacts and a charged phone.
