Animal & Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA)

South Korea's APQA conducts all pet import inspections at Incheon. Dogs require an ISO microchip, valid rabies vaccination (30+ days old, under 1 year), health certificate within 10 days of travel, and a rabies antibody titer test (FAVN/RNATT ≥0.5 IU/ml). No mandatory quarantine for dogs with complete documentation from most countries.

Collection Point

The APQA inspection office is within Incheon Airport. After clearing immigration, proceed to the APQA counter in the customs area before exiting. Cargo arrivals: contact APQA Incheon for collection.

Hours

9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (APQA); customs 24/7

Dog-Owner Tip

Korea requires advance notification 3+ days before arrival through the APQA system. The FAVN test must be done at a Korean-approved laboratory. Dogs under 90 days old that cannot be vaccinated are not permitted entry. Processing is efficient with correct documents. No breed-specific restrictions for dogs.

Facility map

Map the animal facility, not just the passenger terminal.

The critical address is usually the cargo, animal reception, quarantine or border-inspection facility. Use this as a starting map search, then confirm the exact entrance with the airline, facility or receiving agent before travelling.

Before the flight

Send document scans early where the facility offers pre-checks, and confirm whether the airline treats your dog as cabin, checked baggage, AVIH or manifest cargo.

After landing

Wait for clearance updates. Cargo and animal reception facilities are often outside passenger terminals and may need a taxi, car or agent appointment.

What to carry

Bring photo ID, original veterinary documents, microchip details, airway bill numbers, agent contacts and a charged phone.
