Emirates SkyCargo Pet Station

Dubai International Airport's Emirates SkyCargo Pet Station is a state-of-the-art animal handling facility that benefits from Emirates' massive investment in cargo infrastructure. The facility features fully climate-controlled holding areas, which is essential given Dubai's extreme heat — ground temperatures can exceed 50°C during summer months. All animal transfers between aircraft and the cargo terminal are conducted in enclosed, air-conditioned vehicles, ensuring that your dog is never exposed to the desert heat. Dubai serves as a critical connecting hub for pet relocations between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australasia, handling thousands of companion animals annually.

Collection Point

The Emirates SkyCargo Pet Station is located in the SkyCargo terminal complex at DXB. Access is via the DWC (Dubai World Central) entrance road — follow signs to SkyCargo / Freight. This is a separate facility from the passenger terminals and is not walkable. Take a taxi from the arrivals area and specify 'SkyCargo terminal, live animal collection.' Parking is available at the cargo facility. You will need the Air Waybill number and passport/photo ID for collection. Contact your pet shipping agent for exact collection timing.

Dog-Owner Tip

Dubai's heat is the primary concern for dog transport. While the SkyCargo facility itself is fully climate-controlled, be aware that some airlines may impose seasonal embargoes on live animal transport during peak summer (June–September) when tarmac temperatures are extreme. Emirates' own handling is excellent, but if your dog is connecting to a different carrier at DXB, verify that the receiving airline also uses climate-controlled transfers. For transit through Dubai, ensure you have all required UAE transit documentation — while dogs in transit may not need a UAE import permit, some routes require advance notification to the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

Facility map

Map the animal facility, not just the passenger terminal.

The critical address is usually the cargo, animal reception, quarantine or border-inspection facility. Use this as a starting map search, then confirm the exact entrance with the airline, facility or receiving agent before travelling.

Before the flight

Send document scans early where the facility offers pre-checks, and confirm whether the airline treats your dog as cabin, checked baggage, AVIH or manifest cargo.

After landing

Wait for clearance updates. Cargo and animal reception facilities are often outside passenger terminals and may need a taxi, car or agent appointment.

What to carry

Bring photo ID, original veterinary documents, microchip details, airway bill numbers, agent contacts and a charged phone.
