USDA/CBP Inspection at Terminal

The world's busiest airport by passenger traffic. Like most US airports, ATL has no dedicated animal reception center. CBP inspects internationally arriving animals at the terminal. Delta Air Lines, headquartered here, operates a large cargo pet handling operation at ATL.

Collection Point

Accompanied pets clear through CBP at the international arrivals terminal. Cargo pets collected from airline cargo facilities on the south side of the airport.

Hours

CBP: 24/7; cargo: carrier-specific

Dog-Owner Tip

Delta Cargo at ATL is well-equipped for pet handling. For international arrivals, have CDC-required documentation ready for dogs. Dogs have no federal vaccination requirement. Georgia requires rabies vaccination for dogs over 3 months old — carry proof.

Facility map

Map the animal facility, not just the passenger terminal.

The critical address is usually the cargo, animal reception, quarantine or border-inspection facility. Use this as a starting map search, then confirm the exact entrance with the airline, facility or receiving agent before travelling.

Before the flight

Send document scans early where the facility offers pre-checks, and confirm whether the airline treats your dog as cabin, checked baggage, AVIH or manifest cargo.

After landing

Wait for clearance updates. Cargo and animal reception facilities are often outside passenger terminals and may need a taxi, car or agent appointment.

What to carry

Bring photo ID, original veterinary documents, microchip details, airway bill numbers, agent contacts and a charged phone.
