The KLM Cargo Animal Hotel at Schiphol is one of the world's premier pet transit facilities, handling approximately 25,000 dogs and cats, 6,000 horses, and 22 million chickens annually. Fully operational 24/7, it is staffed by attendants trained at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Amsterdam Zoo Artis. Features include a unique dog-walking service, individual kennels, a full quarantine station, and climate-controlled holding areas. A veterinarian is on call at all times.

For pets entering the EU via Schiphol, the EU Border Entry Vet Inspection is handled at the Animal Hotel. KLM's dog-walking service is unique in the airline industry. Visitors are NOT permitted in the Animal Hotel — you cannot visit your pet during transit. Transit pets are automatically cared for between connecting flights.

Send document scans early where the facility offers pre-checks, and confirm whether the airline treats your dog as cabin, checked baggage, AVIH or manifest cargo.
