Wizz Air

Wizz Air, Europe's largest ultra-low-cost carrier, does not accept pets on any of its flights — not in the cabin, not as checked baggage, and not as cargo. This is a critical detail for budget-conscious travelers across Europe and the Middle East, as Wizz Air's extensive network might otherwise seem like an obvious choice. The only exception is trained service dogs, which are accepted in the cabin free of charge with advance notice. This policy applies to all Wizz Air subsidiaries including Wizz Air UK and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi.

Booking tip

If you were planning to use Wizz Air for a pet relocation within Europe, you will need to book a different carrier. Alternatives for budget European pet travel include Aegean Airlines (from €35 domestic), Vueling, Transavia, or LOT Polish Airlines. For routes between the UK and Europe, you will need a cargo service regardless, as the UK requires all pets to enter as manifest cargo.

Why it can work

While Wizz Air cannot transport your dog, it is included here because its extensive European network means many pet owners discover this limitation only after booking flights. Knowing in advance allows you to plan alternative transport. If you are flying Wizz Air yourself, your pet can travel separately via cargo on another airline, or you could drive to your destination with your dog using the Eurotunnel or ferry services.

Restrictions

No pets of any kind in cabin, checked baggage, or cargo on any Wizz Air flight. Service dogs only, with documentation from recognised training organisations.

Dog-owner notes

Wizz Air operates from over 40 bases across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, with its largest presence in Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the UK. The airline flies Airbus A320 and A321neo aircraft exclusively. For service dog enquiries, contact Wizz Air's Special Assistance team at least 48 hours before departure via the website.

Final check before paying

Confirm the exact aircraft, route, dog breed, carrier size, temperature rules and destination import law directly with the airline. A country can allow dogs while a specific airline or aircraft refuses them.
