The airline operates primarily from Zurich (ZRH) and Geneva (GVA), providing excellent connectivity across Europe and to major intercontinental destinations. SWISS benefits from the Lufthansa Group's well-established live animal handling infrastructure, and pets transiting through Zurich receive professional care. The cabin carrier size allowance of 55×40×23 cm is among the most generous in Europe.

Booking tip
Reserve your pet through the SWISS Service Centre at least 24 hours before departure. SWISS accepts both hard-sided and soft-sided carriers in the cabin, but soft-sided is recommended for comfort under the seat. The 8 kg cabin limit includes the carrier. SWISS shares the Lufthansa Group infrastructure, so if you are connecting through Frankfurt, your dog can benefit from the world-renowned Lufthansa Animal Lounge. Always confirm whether your specific flight is operated by SWISS or a Lufthansa Group partner.

Restrictions
Brachycephalic dog breeds are restricted from hold travel. Pets are not permitted in SWISS Business or First Class. Maximum one carrier per passenger. Pets cannot fly in the cabin to destinations requiring cargo-only import (UK, Australia, etc.). Pregnant animals are not accepted. SWISS may refuse pet transport during extreme weather conditions.
Dog-owner notes
SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group, so its pet policy aligns closely with Lufthansa's. For cargo shipments, contact SWISS WorldCargo (swissworldcargo.com). An EU Pet Passport or equivalent veterinary documentation is required for all international travel. Switzerland is not an EU member but follows equivalent pet import regulations.
