Emirates
Emirates does not allow pets in the passenger cabin on any flight, but operates one of the most modern and well-equipped cargo animal handling operations in the world through its Emirates SkyCargo division at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The airline's state-of-the-art temperature-controlled facilities mean that your dog will never be left sitting on a hot tarmac — all transfers between aircraft and the cargo terminal happen in climate-controlled vehicles. Dubai serves as a massive global connecting hub, making Emirates a popular choice for pet relocations between Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australasia.

Booking tip
Since Emirates only accepts pets as cargo, you will typically need to use a pet shipping agent or contact Emirates SkyCargo directly. The booking process requires an IATA-compliant crate, full veterinary documentation, and advance booking of at least 7–14 days. Dubai's strategic location makes Emirates excellent for connecting routes — for example, flying from the US to India, or from Europe to Southeast Asia, with a Dubai connection. Just be aware that your dog will need to clear transit procedures at DXB, and transit times should be planned carefully.
Why it can work
Emirates' Dubai cargo hub is purpose-built for live animal logistics and features dedicated temperature-controlled holding rooms, veterinary staff on call, and automated climate systems that maintain consistent conditions throughout the handling chain. Pets are moved in enclosed, air-conditioned vehicles between the aircraft and the terminal — they are never exposed to Dubai's extreme heat. This facility is considered one of the top three animal handling centers in the world alongside Frankfurt and JFK. Emirates has a strong record of safe animal transport across long-haul routes.
Restrictions
No cabin pets under any circumstances — this applies to all Emirates routes globally. Pets travel exclusively as manifest cargo. Brachycephalic breeds may face seasonal restrictions during peak summer months (June–September) when Dubai ground temperatures can exceed 45°C. Some destinations served by Emirates (such as Australia and Singapore) have additional quarantine requirements that are handled at the destination, not by Emirates. Falcons are the only animals permitted in the cabin (a specific exemption for certain Middle Eastern routes).
Dog-owner notes
Pricing for Emirates cargo pet transport varies significantly based on route length, crate size, and weight. Expect to pay $500–$2,000+ depending on your itinerary. Emirates SkyCargo requires all documentation to be in English and Arabic for UAE transit. For dogs transiting through Dubai to a final destination, ensure you have transit permits if required by UAE authorities. The Emirates SkyCargo facility is located at the DXB SkyCargo terminal — use the DWC entrance if directed. Contact Emirates SkyCargo at +971 4 708 0500 or via the SkyCargo website for live animal booking enquiries.
Final check before paying
Confirm the exact aircraft, route, dog breed, carrier size, temperature rules and destination import law directly with the airline. A country can allow dogs while a specific airline or aircraft refuses them.
