Condor

Condor is a German leisure airline based in Frankfurt, operating flights to popular holiday destinations across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, North America, the Caribbean, and East Africa. For pet owners, Condor fills an important niche as it serves many warm-weather destinations that business-focused carriers may not. The airline accepts small dogs and cats in the cabin and larger animals in the hold, with a zone-based pricing system that keeps European routes affordable.

Booking tip

Condor's strict 6 kg cabin weight limit (dog plus carrier combined) is lower than most European carriers, so weigh your setup carefully before travel. Zone 1 (European) routes are the cheapest for pet transport. The airline uses a tiered pricing system: Zone 1 (Southern Europe), Zone 2 (Iceland, Turkey, UAE), and Zones 3–5 (Americas, Africa). Pet carriers for cabin travel must be soft-sided, waterproof, and lockable. Hard-sided IATA crates are required for hold transport.

Why it can work

Condor's European holiday routes — including Greece, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Egypt, and Tunisia — are popular with pet owners seeking warm-climate relocations. The zone-based pricing is transparent and often cheaper than legacy carriers for the same routes. Condor is owned by Lufthansa Group, which provides some connection options through Frankfurt (FRA) airport.

Restrictions

Several dangerous dog breeds are completely banned, including Pit Bull Terrier, American Pitbull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, and Tosa Inu. Brachycephalic breeds restricted from hold travel. Maximum of 2 animals per booking. Not available on all codeshare flights. The 6 kg cabin limit excludes many adult dogs — weigh your carrier carefully.

Dog-owner notes

Condor operates Airbus A320/A321 aircraft on European routes and A330neo on long-haul services. Based at Frankfurt (FRA) with additional departures from Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and other German cities. Book pets via condor.com or call the service centre. Condor was formerly known as Condor Flugdienst and was previously owned by Thomas Cook.

Final check before paying

Confirm the exact aircraft, route, dog breed, carrier size, temperature rules and destination import law directly with the airline. A country can allow dogs while a specific airline or aircraft refuses them.
